Dental Crowns & Bridges
What Are Crowns & Bridges?
Crowns and bridges are both restorative dental treatments that can help restore the normal function and appearance of your smile.
They can fill the space left by missing teeth and can also help you maintain your natural facial shape, as well as restore your ability to chew and speak properly.
By repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth using a dental crown or bridge, our Edmonton dentists can change your smile's appearance – and preserve your oral health.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are hollow, artificial teeth, that are placed over an entire decayed or damaged tooth to restore its original shape, size, and colour. Dental crowns help strengthen and alter the appearance of a broken tooth that may otherwise require extraction.
Crowns are strong and can be made from a variety of materials including porcelain and metal. They look and function like natural teeth, and can last 10 years or more if cared for properly.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a natural-looking restoration that is designed to 'bridge' a gap of missing teeth in your mouth. A dental bridge is made up of one or more artificial teeth and is fixed to the teeth on either side of the gap to fill in the empty space.
A bridge helps to prevent your other teeth from shifting to fill the space left by a missing tooth. Failing to fill in missing teeth can result in more serious dental issues including gum disease.
